How it Came to Be

Project Type: Film

Scope of Work: Starting with a questionable addiction to NBC's popular show, The Bachelor, I began to dream of people fighting over a desirable 4-legged bachelor. Dogs, clearly better at love than most humans, needed their shot at accepting a rose and finding their perfect life partner. For this project, I wrote a script, planned and produced a filming schedule, plucked on camera talent from departments all across the shelter, painstakingly collected items over months for set design, scouted locations, convinced my leadership to invest in a hotel room for filming, creative directed shoots, talent, and did all the filming, editing, and post production including graphics and audio. With my attention to detail and high quality expectations, a rag tag crew of nonprofit workers were able to make this short film happen and it paid off. It received national coverage on shows like the Today Show, Morning Express, sites like Huffpost, local news outlets, and it was shared widely online. In 2018 I received "Best in Comedy" New Mexico Filmmaker Award and have heard from many other shelters and rescues who made their own versions of The Dog Bachelor to help get their animals out of the shelter and into homes.
